Volunteering with Our Gardening Team

We offer rewarding and flexible volunteering opportunities within our friendly and experienced gardening team. Volunteers are welcome to join us on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 9:00am, helping to care for and maintain our gardens throughout the year.

There is no requirement to commit to a regular schedule—you can join us as often as suits you, whether that’s for a full morning or just a couple of hours. Our sessions are relaxed, social, and suitable for a range of experience levels, from keen beginners to seasoned gardeners.

Volunteers are part of a supportive team environment and have the opportunity to learn new skills, enjoy time outdoors, and contribute to the upkeep of our beautiful grounds. We also take a break for tea and coffee around 11:00am, providing a chance to rest and socialise.

As a thank you for your time, we offer volunteers a complimentary season ticket, along with an additional ticket for a partner or friend.

East Ruston Old Vicarage – Opening Times 2026

The garden and tea room will open on Wednesday, 1st April, and close on Saturday, 31st October 2026.

Opening days:
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holidays
Hours: 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, except on the following Bank Holiday Mondays when we will be open:

  • Monday, 6th April 2026 (Easter Monday)

  • Monday, 4th May 2026 (Early May Bank Holiday)

  • Monday, 25th May 2026 (Spring Bank Holiday)

  • Monday, 31st August 2026 (Summer Bank Holiday)

ASSISTANCE DOGS WELCOME

We are happy to welcome trained assistance dogs supporting a disabled person.

Please note:

  • Only trained assistance dogs are allowed

  • Emotional support or anxiety dogs cannot be admitted

  • Dogs must always remain on a lead

Special Note: Open to RHS Members in October.
